Science Briefing at NASA Headquarters

ROOMS and LOGISTICS

Unless you hear otherwise, the SMEX Science Briefings will be in Room 7W41 at HQ. The team waiting room is the Astronomy & Physics (Code SZ) Conference Room, Room 3T37/3U34 (it has two doors).

Except for the PRIME presentation team, please proceed to the waiting room (3T37/3U34) when you arrive. The PRIME team may proceed directly to the presentation room (7W41) since they present first. When it is time for your presentation, someone (possibly me) will come to the waiting room to escort you to the presentation room.

A list will be sent to the security desk with all presenters' names. When you arrive at NASA, please proceed to security. Identify yourself as attending the SMEX Science Meeting. US citizens may be badged and proceed as directed above. If there is a foreign national in your group, please call my secretary at 358-2150 and ask for an escort.

You may not attend any presentation except for your own. Besides your team, only NASA employees will be allowed to hear your briefing. Only Dr. Weiler and members of the science selection board will be allowed to ask questions.

PRESENTATION EQUIPMENT

There will be an overhead projector and a LCD projector available. However, I don't want you to think that we will make anything easy for you!

• You may not come on June 25 to test the projector. I strongly suggest that you bring transparency backups if you plan to make a computer presentation.
• There will only be 10 minutes between presentations (if, that is, a miracle occurs and we stay on schedule). That is not much time to set up your laptop with an untested projector. Did I mention that it would be a good idea to bring transparencies?
• The room is not NASA's finest conference room. The screen is modest in size (was that tactful, or what). I suggest that you bring hard copies of your presentation so that the Board members can follow along. Please bring 10 hard copies of your presentation.
• Tell you what. If you want to give a PowerPoint presentation, and if you e-mail me your presentation by 1 p.m. EDT on Monday June 24, then I will load your presentation onto my laptop and have it hooked up to the LCD projector for you.
