I am pleased to inform you that the MIDEX downselection will take place as usual in spite of the current uncertainties in the NASA FY00 budget, including uncertainties in the Explorer budget. However, those missions selected for flight will not proceed into development until a NASA budget is approved which does not cut the Explorer program.

The science presentations by the MIDEX teams to the Associate Administrator for Space Science and his Science Board of Directors will therefore take place as scheduled on Tuesday 14 September.

If you have not done so, please send me the names and institutions of your (up to five) attendees, noting the (up to three) presenters, by 7 September. Also, please let me know if you have any special requirements for your presentation beyond an overhead projector.
