MIDEX Letters of Endorsement and Commitment by MIDEX Partners

The guidelines for MIDEX Concept Study Report submission state that "No late changes or errata sheets will be accepted." The guidelines for MIDEX site visits state that "Unless specifically requested by NASA otherwise, only data and material presented during the briefings will be considered. No late material will be accepted."

NASA understands that international partners and non-NASA funding agencies (both domestic and foreign) have review and approval processes which may not be exactly phased with the MIDEX Concept Study Report due date of June 18. This is why the due date for non-U.S. letters of endorsement was later than that for submission of MIDEX proposals in the 1998 AO. For missions dependent on contributions, endorsements and commitments by partners are a vital part of the evaluation and selection process.

Therefore, when changes occur in the approval status of your mission by your international partners and non-NASA funding agencies, you must notify the MIDEX Program Scientist as soon as possible. Notification should be made by e-mail or telephone with follow up documentary written evidence. Note that this applies only to changes in the approval status from that outlined in the Concept Study report and not to updates which are consistent with the Concept Study report.
